In this week we talked about William Shakespeare. Who is William Shakespeare? Shakespeare was born in Stratford, Warwickshire, in 1564. William Shakespeare is considered to be one of the finest playwrights in history. He wrote many plays, poems, comedies, tragedies. He was tremendously perceptive in creating complex character.
When Shakespeare about 20, he left his
wife and children and went to London where he worked as an actor and
playwright. He also wrote a number of sonnets and several books length poems in
around 1592. His surviving works consist of 38 plays, 154 sonnets. His plays
have been translated into every major living language and are performed more often
than any other playwright. His plays remain highly popular today and are
constantly studied and performed.
Some of William Shakespeare’s best known
tragedies are Hamlet, Romeo and Juliet, King Lear and Othello. Some important
comedies are As You Like It and The Taming of the Shrew. Shakespeare is one of
the most important playwright and poet in English literature. He influenced his
contemporaries and was influenced from them.
